Featured Bay Area Dogs
We are excited to announce our new feature page to highlight special dogs out there! How often have you hiked by a cute pup, saw one playing in the waves or fetch a ball at a local park. Do you know who they are? Do you know their stories? Well, now you do. Next time you see them on the beach or on the trail, say hello or just “woof”.
Bear is a 5-year old Australian Shepherd who was born in Montana but spent her puppyhood in Cambridge, MA exploring the Charles River. We moved back home to the Bay Area to have more outdoor space. While living in San Francisco, Crissy Field and Beach were our regular spots. Now that we live in Mill Valley the Coastal Trail – Hill 88, Escalon, Coyote Ridge Trail, Ring Mountain are all our favorite trails. We also love Rodeo Beach and the dog-friendly side of Stinson. Bear loves hiking with her 1-year old brother Chief who is twice her size. See me on Instagram @bearandchief
Chief was rescued from a farm in Northern California and is a Great Pyrenees + Anatolian Shepherd mix. He’s just over one year old and loves running up and down canyons to test out his long legs. Chief has a very gentle soul and looks up to his sister Bear. They love to wrestle and chase each other everywhere – whether that’s at the beach or in the backyard. Chief loves Coastal Trail – Hill 88, Escalon Open Space, Ring Mountain. His favorite beaches are Rodeo Beach and Stinson Beach but he’s not a big swimmer. See me on Instagram @hbearandchief
Turtle is an Australian Labradoodle born in Sacramento and raised in the Bay Area. His litter of 12 was born around Christmas and temporarily named after 12 days of Christmas. He was number two (two Turtle Doves). The name stuck. Given half a chance, Turtle will lick you to death. He is a happy-go-lucky doggie that has to say hello to everyone he meets. His little human sister adores him, with only occasional fights. Turtle spends his time exploring different trails in the Bay Area. If there is water and a ball life is good.
Saya is a double doodle (yes mommy is a goldendoodle and daddy is a labradoodle). Saya is double the trouble and double the fun. There’s not a park she doesn’t love, a tennis ball she won’t chase, and a beach she won’t splash into. She loves being raised here in San Francisco the best city in the world and love how pet friendly it is. Saya loves exploring all the Bay Area has to offer with her parents. You can follow her adventures on Instagram @sayadoubledoodle
Remy is a 5 year old mutt rescued in Louisiana, adopted in New England and happily living now in San Francisco with his family! As a rescue, Remy has been fearful of new situations, but the woods have always been his happy place. He loves to run, sniff and chew on pine cones. With the help of his dog walking pack, Remy takes to the streets and parks of SF with confidence. Because of his unique brindle, fans have said Remy looks like a hyena, dingo, coyote, tiger—and even a giraffe! You can follow his adventures on Instagram @dobrya
Hi! My name is Courtney, but my parents call me Bug. I’m originally from Stockton and now living in the heart of San Francisco. My parents know I’m part beagle, part something else (maybe pointer?). I’m a super speedy runner, so I love to play chase, and I love being chased. You’ll find me running around with my dog pals at Duboce Park on the weekdays and exploring various trails in the Bay Area on the weekends. I will never refuse chicken, bananas, wild boar treats, or anything that is called food. Weeee! See me on Instagram @courtney_the_bug
Hi I’m Toki. I’m 3 years young (birthday is 3/19). Out of all puppies, I was the only one who crawled on my human’s lap. I love snuggles and being held. I’m a quick learner of tricks but I’m the worst at hiding my treats (sometimes I hide it on my human’s foot). I love going to the small dog meet up on Saturdays at Ocean Beach where I meet old furrends and make new ones too. Check out my silly adventures on Instagram @toki_the_shihtzu
Stoney, a silky-soft labradoodle, is 9 years old but still acts like a puppy. Spending most of his life in Carmel, he found his forever home in the Bay Area. Deemed by all who know him as “the best dog ever,” Stoney’s calm and loving demeanor simply makes the world a better place. If you ever see Stoney hiking nearby, come say hi! He loves all furry animals. See me on Instagram @kristinetangerine
Hi, I’m Coco Pop! I’m almost 3 years old (my birthday is in November!) I was sick at 7 weeks old when I arrived at the Humane Society of Silicon Valley in Milpitas on News Years 2013. My Mamz brought me home when I was 9 weeks old and added the “Pop!” to my name because I hop like a bunny rabbit when I run! I’m a very picky eater, and I love belly rubs, giving kisses (I’m the expert at them!) and of course, running all over my favorite beaches! You can follow my adventures on Instagram at @littlecocopop!
Moose is a 6 year old rescue dog who moved with his mom to San Francisco from North Carolina in 2015. He loves exploring the Bay Area trails and beaches almost as much as he loves naps and peanut butter-filled Kongs. Weekend hikes are his favorite activity (even after that time he swallowed a bee and ended up at the emergency vet – ouch!) and he loves making new friends on the trails – canine and human! See me on my mom’s Instagram @nerriy
Chuck is an 8 year old rescue dog (former bait animal) who spends time on Baker Beach at least three times a week. During the first few weeks of adoption when we were working through separation anxiety, dog fears and leash aggression, we’d come to Baker Beach for a really good work out followed by a short training session and the opportunity to meet other dogs off leash. Baker Beach helped Chuck turn a really tough corner. It’s our favorite place to hang out now. See me on Instagram @chuckthechucker
I am named after my grandfather, Norman. My parents decided to add me to their family after living in Geneva and seeing lots of Berners. I spend most of my time at Fort Funston on the weekdays and each weekend I visit my mom’s dad and other vets at the VA. I am almost 3 and I have had a wild life – last year someone poisoned me with PCP so I spent a few days in the hospital I went on tv to warn my friends. I love to go to the beach and the I still believe I am a lap dog even though I weigh 140. See me on Instagram @sf_norm
